Exclusive outdoor recreation can be found in the camping sites with unique history
Lithuania has many camping sites with a long and interesting history. One of these is located in Obuolių Island on Grabuostas Lake. Here the famous scientist of the beginning of the twentieth century, P. Šivickis installed a farm and in order to create an intimate and pleasant environment for both himself and his family and the island visitors, he planted the apple orchard. The island is famous for the garden harvest so far, while the island itself attracts tourists from all corners of the Earth.
The neighbouring resident says that in the past a chapel stood on the Obuolių island and the island belonged to the nobility who used to come together here for outing and entertainment.
Today, the former scientist’s homestead hosts a four-star camping site, and a bar-café in the farm building. Residential house of the professor became the administrative camp building. Only the apple trees, of which there are over a hundred here, seemingly have not changed and one can pick a rich apple harvest every year. Maybe you, too, if you come here to relax, can take bills delicious apples.
