On the 23rd of November in 1918 the Prime Minister A. Voldemaras signed the order that established the Security Council and ordered to start forming the first Lithuanian military flock. Since this day the army that gained Lithuania’s independence was officially started. Even though while recreating the country there were opinions that the army is not necessary for the nation, the situation at that time encouraged to understand that Lithuania won’t be able to save its self-dependence without own army. Nowadays the 23rd of November in our country is commemorated as Lithuania military day during which there are various concerts, special programs arranged, historical films shown and topical discussions made.
