Modern cuisine

Wit, creative thinking, local sourcing, modern kitchen technology, traditions, and the latest global trends. These are the principles that our restaurant chefs and modern cuisine adhere to. We enjoy good food and that is why we have such a plenitude of choices – whether it’s sophisticated fare in the city or niche food in small a town, at the shore, or at a secretive forest location, you are sure to find something novel. Lithuanians are especially meticulous about their food, so your meal will satisfy your appetite and be a pleasure for your eyes and heart. Food is indeed the quintessence of culture – it takes you on a journey through local traditions and flavors. Our chefs are committed to sourcing food locally and cooking seasonally.

Street food

Juicy American hamburger? Sausage with German mustard? Pita bread? Or maybe a Mexican tortilla? And don’t forget a bowl of paella that smells like it’s straight from the coast of Spain, crisp Italian pizza, a vegan sandwich with fresh-picked lettuce, and a big, fat Lithuanian cepelinas doused in sauce. It just might be that you’ll find the dish of your dreams on Lithuania’s city streets or on your way to the shore. Or at least you’ll be able to quell your craving for a taste of your native cuisine. You can find everything in Lithuania, and the street food culture is exploding with options to taste, try, feel or just... eat. On a green lawn in the middle of the capital, at a music festival by the sea, in a forest, or at the trendiest loft in town. Don’t be surprised if you’re served something that belongs in a luxury restaurant, or if you hear that the chef in the food truck is actually a culinary virtuoso who has worked in the best kitchens in the country. Or if someone gives you a free shot of coffee, a glass of home-made lemonade, or a cup of fresh, pure Lithuanian water.

Vegetarian and vegan

If you like vegetarian food or if you adhere to the principles of Ayurveda cooking, don’t worry – you will find a place to eat in Lithuania. Fresh food is full of vitality, energy and goodness – we find great pleasure in taking what nature creates for us and gives us. Vegetarian and vegan chefs prepare food at cafés and restaurants in line with these principles. Products come directly from the farmers – they don’t have any flavour enhancers or unnatural additives, and every dish speaks of harmony. Delicious, beautifully presented vegetarian and vegan food, slow eating, and cordial conversations at the table – that’s what the vegetarian and vegan restaurants in Lithuania have to offer.

Superfood

Low in calories but high in energy provided by nature itself. To this day, scientists don’t know what bee pollen is made of. Apparently, the hard working bees add special substances from nature. The bees that visit our clean forests and meadows give us bee pollen powder and bee bread, which contains a lot of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

Lithuanians have cultivated flax and hemp since ancient times. Today, the seeds of these plant are especially valued. Flaxseed has a lot of vitamins and omega 3 fatty acids, which are particularly beneficial for the cardiovascular system. Hemp seeds are a veritable source of protein. They are rich in magnesium, zinc, iron, and good fats, which strengthen the cardiovascular system. Just as valuable are cold-pressed flaxseed oil and hemp oil, which can be found in health food shops and make an excellent souvenir from Lithuania.
