Cosy and cute open-air markets spring up across Lithuanian square in the weeks leading up to Christmas. And they are a great place to sample various local and international delicacies, festive drinks and buy some handmade gifts. Besides the Christmas Town, which is set up every year in the central square of Vilnius alongside (or around) the world famous tree, there’s the Uptown Christmas fair, where you can buy handmade gifts directly from local artisans and artists. After loading up on traditional kitchen utensils, woollen socks, and hearty winter food, don’t forget to grab a glass of mulled wine or root beer for some extra holiday cheer.
