Located on the outskirts of Kaunas, and covering an exhibition area of 4,700 square meters, the museum of aviation is one of the country’s most impressive transportation museums. Whether you are an aviation enthusiast, or have just a passing interest, you’ll find something to stimulate your interest. The museum houses over 40 flying machines both inside and outside, taking in everything from smaller commercial planes to fighter jets to helicopters and gliders. Focused on the history of aviation in the country, you’ll learn about some of its heroes like the first transatlantic pilots Darius and Girėnas , and see the commercial and military craft that once filled Lithuanian skies. Children of all ages will also be thrilled to pore over the glass cases full of model airplanes. And if you fancy yourself as a flyboy or flygirl, there’s also a plane simulator you can have a go on.
